Our first spotlight will feature Jeanette Peltier-Shoemaker. She has been in Las Vegas since she was 18 months old. She and her sisters took after their mom, with a fond love and interest in family heirlooms to include jewelry and various antiques. Her and her sister, Evelyn, started an antique store in the Red Rooster Mall here in Las Vegas a long time ago. (For those of you not familiar with the Red Rooster, it was an antique mall on the corner of Charleston and Western Avenue, which is now an empty lot next to the Holsum Bakery Lofts.) Their store was named “Heirlooms and Treasures”. Jeanette and her husband Dale, along with their children, have traveled all over the country buying antiques. Both Jeanette and Dale refinish and restore antique furniture- keeping the pieces that they are fond of and selling the rest. When Jeanette started seeing the popularity of painted furniture, she became very interested. She took a BB Frosch class and watched lots of You Tube videos and blogs. She set her sites on learning the best way to paint\refinish\refurbish an item and also which products to use to bring a piece to life and make sure it lasted a lifetime.
