Curb Alert! Curb Alert! Last chance for a new home!

Spread the love

Over the past three years- we have had many curb alerts on the sites.  They range from loads of wood, to the entire contents of a home- just sitting on the curb. I always keep track of them.  These tossed out pieces of furniture, as well as other items, are given up and abandoned for various reasons throughout our communities.  Thousands of items that are thrown out and tossed away- just sitting on the curb…waiting and maybe hoping to get one more chance for just a new home…a broken leg repaired and maybe a cool paint job.

One of our members spied an amazing Mid Century Radio cabinet this morning as she was taking her child to school. Her husband did not want it.  She graciously put a picture and location of the item for someone else to come and get it. Another member, who happened to live 2 minutes away…snagged it ..has already made plans to refinish it and has even shared with us a video of how the record player sounds (join us to see the video). It is so awesome when two people who do not know each other connect in such a way.  I feel that sometimes we are not meant to keep everything that we find- and that it will make its way to its home… where it should be.  And those who help it along the way will be rewarded….. it’s good karma! Even though it may sting a bit. Something will come along better.

Grady said: “So an amazing member posted this record player console this am that was on the curb. Well I live 2 min and was up early enough I got to score it first! Check this out! I’ll be restoring this fully and keeping it! And it works and sounds awesome! Video in comments!”

Victoria said: “I’m so happy for you!!!! It was meant to be yours!  I showed my husband it worked, and I think now he is kicking himself for telling me NO….lesson learned for him.  I just knew there was a perfect home for it. This is why I love GGB’s. “

Another member stated: “Mine didn’t want it either, now he’s like… “Wow that thing is cool!” Thank you!!! Yes lesson is, don’t listen to the hubbys!

I put together a little slide-show of some of the more memorable items that have been seen, shared and saved! Just one of the many perks of being a member of Got Good Bones.  Making new friends and saving the world…one piece of furniture at a time!

The Fireplace Mantel was spied by one of our members in a business district on a Saturday morning.  It was early. She fell in love with it…but had no way to get it home.  So she painstakingly posted it on the site.  Another members’ husband happened to be in the area…and it got a new home….

The set of Victorian Furniture was split amongst two members…

Always be on the look out…It’s out there…just waiting for you. I have been married 30 years. I do not ask the hubby…I just bring it home. Remind me to tell you about the time he came home and found a piano from 1896 in the living room! Yep…I did it. He likes it now.
